Creamy Whipped Hot Chocolate – Gluten-Free Recipe

If you enjoyed Dalgona Coffee then you will certainly love this Whipped Hot Chocolate Recipe, plus it’s naturally gluten-free!

Whipped Hot Chocolate has become a popular trend online. While I’m not much for social media trends, this whipped hot chocolate is worth trying — it’s simple, decadent, and naturally gluten-free.

This drink is very similar to the Dalgona Coffee trend but made with cocoa. The whipped topping adds a rich, creamy texture that sits atop warm milk for a comforting cup.

What is Whipped Hot Chocolate?

Whipped Hot Chocolate (Gluten-Free)

Whipped Hot Chocolate is a whipped mixture of heavy cream and dry hot chocolate mix. The whipped cream is flavored with the cocoa mix, creating a thick, chocolatey topping. When spooned over warm milk, it melts into a creamy hot chocolate.

Spoon the whipped chocolate over warm milk and finish with your favorite toppings for a cozy drink.

What type of milk do you use?

Whipped Hot Chocolate (Gluten-Free)

You can use regular white milk or chocolate milk, depending on how rich you want the base to be. Serve it hot or cold — hot is our favorite — and you can also add a shot of coffee to turn it into a mocha variation.

The recipe is versatile: use different milks, adjust sweetness, or add a splash of espresso for a mocha twist.

What do you need to make Whipped Hot Chocolate?

  • Dry hot chocolate mix (store-bought or homemade)
  • Heavy whipping cream
  • White or chocolate milk
  • Toppings such as marshmallows, sprinkles, or chocolate shavings

Tips for making Whipped Hot Chocolate:

Whipped Hot Chocolate (Gluten-Free)

Use heavy whipping cream — lighter creams won’t whip to stiff peaks and the topping won’t hold. Whisk the cream and hot chocolate mix together until you reach stiff peaks. You can whisk by hand, use a handheld mixer, or a stand mixer; a stand mixer makes the job easiest.

I usually whip the mixture in a stand mixer for 2–3 minutes until it forms stiff peaks. Heat the milk, pour it into a mug, and spoon the whipped chocolate on top. Add marshmallows or chocolate shavings if desired, and enjoy—this pairs beautifully with gingerbread cookies or other holiday treats.
