When did your weight loss journey first begin?
My weight loss journey began more than five years ago. I joined Stay Fit Mom in April 2021 and have been committed to the process since then.
You have been so consistent and steady throughout this process. What keeps you from throwing in the towel when life gets busy and stressful?
Consistency and steadiness keep me on track. I’ve fallen off the wagon many times with diets and workouts, and I truly dislike how I feel when I’m not eating well or exercising. Working out has become like therapy for me — I get cranky if I miss more than a day. I’m also a wife, a mother of adult children, and a grandmother to a five-year-old who watches what I do. If I want them to build healthy habits and not give up, I have to model perseverance.

How has your macro journey impacted other areas of your life besides just needing a new wardrobe?
Counting macros has changed my life. I view food differently now. I thought I understood macros before, but tracking my intake was the missing piece. I recently turned 44 and I’m in the best physical shape of my life. I’m stronger and can perform movements I never could do before, like full push-ups, renegade rows, and incline push-ups. Not long ago I needed modifications for those exercises.

Have the habits you’ve picked up since counting macros rubbed off on your family? What do they think about it?
My husband has been most influenced. When I began in April, he would say things like, “What is that?” or “I don’t care,” or “I don’t understand this.” Now he asks, “Is this a protein or a carb? Does this turn into sugar?” He’s reading labels with me and becoming more engaged in our food choices.
What are the biggest challenges you’ve had to overcome when it comes to sticking to your macros?
My biggest struggle has been the scale. I had to stop getting upset when the number didn’t move for stretches of time and learn that the scale is not the only measure of progress. Clothes fitting better, increasing strength in the gym, being able to do new exercises, improved endurance, and having more daily energy are far more important indicators of success. Another challenge was my habit of starting programs for only a few days before quitting; I’ve learned to stick with the plan and trust the process.
Tell us about your experience with coach Lindsay and the Stay Fit Mom program. Is it what you expected?
Lindsay has been amazing. She’s talked me off the ledge many times, especially early on when I was prone to quitting. Over the past months we’ve developed a great rapport, and I look forward to meeting her in person. The support and guidance have made a real difference in my consistency and mindset.

What do you do to stay active?
I stay active by getting up early and working out five to seven days a week. I also walk twice a week with a good friend, which helps keep me consistent and adds social time to my routine.
Tell us about your meal prepping. You meal prep for several other ladies also, right?
Yes, I meal prep for myself, my husband, and usually three to five other women each week. I began sharing my weekly menu and meals on Facebook, and a few people asked if I would cook for them — they even offered to pay. It’s become a small service I enjoy providing.

Any advice for anyone considering trying to count their macros?
If you’re thinking about joining Stay Fit Mom, don’t hesitate. Jump in and commit. It takes a few days to get comfortable with the process, but it’s worth it. Since joining SFM, I’ve learned to stop hesitating. This is your sign to take charge of your health. Trust the program — taking that leap has been life-changing for me multiple times.
