Cheesy Bean Dip (Gluten-Free) — Crowd-Pleasing Party Recipe

Creamy, cheesy bean dip is a beloved gluten-free appetizer that also makes an excellent burrito filling for dinner.

Gluten-free Cheesy Bean Dip

One of the best parts of fall and winter is football season. Since moving to Boise, we try to catch every Boise State game, either in person or on TV, and we also watch many NFL games every weekend. We love inviting friends over to enjoy the game and share a spread of food. A great selection of gluten-free finger foods and dips makes any football gathering even better.

Many people stop hosting when they switch to a gluten-free diet, worried about cost or cross-contamination. But entertaining gluten-free guests doesn’t have to be expensive or risky. With a few smart choices and clearly labeled items, you can host a safe, tasty party that appeals to both gluten-free and gluten-eating friends.

Below is a budget-friendly, crowd-pleasing menu you can mix and match. Invite guests to bring a dish—people usually like specific suggestions and it helps share the cost and effort.

Notes on ingredients and substitutions for this cheesy bean dip:

  • The meat is optional and flexible: omit it for a vegetarian version, double it for a meatier dish, or substitute ground turkey.
  • Avoid light sour cream; it tends to curdle. Use a natural, full-fat sour cream for best texture and flavor.
  • Refried black beans work well, but any refried beans are fine.
  • Choose a taco sauce or salsa you trust to be gluten-free. Mild taco sauce works nicely if you prefer a gentler heat.

You can bake this in any ceramic or glass casserole dish. A 2-quart dish is a convenient size. The dip reheats well and also makes a tasty burrito filling.

I hope you try this recipe at your next football gathering. Leave a comment to share your favorite party foods!
